Not that as individuals we have power over them, but we give them money so they do have to answer to us. I also feel that since many things are not being handled in a responsible way we should be contacting them more often than we do and be a much louder voice than ever before. We, the taxpayers, are the managers of the State and we have been slacking off big time. I feel it is time to pay more attention to what is going on in our state. We can not afford to throw up our hands anymore and surrender to apathy, and desensitization of the actions that are being carried out by our representatives.
I feel that in order to inspire change in our state we need to regain our voice, so please call or e-mail your appropriate representative regarding an issue that you are concerned about. Not only is it within your rights, it is your duty as a tax payer to make sure that your hard earned dollars are not being squandered away.

Jennifer

President Barack Obama

I have lived, and grown up here and as an adult been bombarded by information about how the money I pay through taxes is being squandered away without logic or reason. For years I would complain about the state saying that I just couldn't understand how we could pay the highest property taxes in the country and be in this mess of debt. Not only do we pay the highest property taxes, but we also have revenue that most States don't through the casinos, 7% sales taxes, highly tolled roads, and fees for just about everything like your phone bill and others I'm sure I can't even fathom. Two weeks ago I learned that the DMV (Division of Motor Vehicles) which normally runs a surplus is now millions of dollars in the hole. How is this happening? Where is all of the money? I know I will never get any straight answers beyond, "Someone at the top is getting paid", or "it's the pensions". While I certainly am not dismissing these reasons, those generalized statements don't leave much to take action against.
So I began thinking about what I could do to get some real answers and take the information and try to rally support to actually get to the root of the problem. In New Jersey there are a lot of weeds growing in our state and locally run agencies. They are like dandelions, we keep trying to rip the head off of them, but their roots are deep and tough to get at, but I think with enough digging and a little strength we can rip all these weeds out of our state and help it get back on it's feet again.
It's one thing for a poorly run state to function while the state of our Nation is thriving but when the state begins to be faced with foreclosures and the money well starts to dry up there becomes nothing left to fall back on. There is a point when people that live in the state will no longer have the money to continue to fund these out of control spending habits.
So I am asking anyone that knows about wasteful spending in the state through their own experience to e-mail me at iwantchange@takebacknewjersey.com with their story and as many details about the waste as possible. I am not interested in names, only facts. i request that you submit the information anonymously and any names that you give me will be altered. I will blog about the information and open a live chat every Tuesday at 7pm.
This website is "By the People" (Me), "For the People" (You) so that "We the People" can get our state back and running smoothly.

Thank you for your participation,
Jennifer
